Communication and Digital Minister Meutya Hafid met National Police Chief Gen. Suyudi Ario Seto at police headquarters in Jakarta on Tuesday, 27 October 2026. The meeting discussed following up a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two institutions agreed in April 2026. Meutya said the aim is to speed up implementation so that the digital space is safer.
Crimes in focus
Meutya cited public complaints about data trading, online gambling, online fraud, pornography, bullying, misinformation and hoaxes. The cooperation also covers securing digital infrastructure, including illegal cable cutting and theft of mobile base stations (BTS) that have disrupted internet access in several regions.
She said the police chief had acted within weeks against an online gambling network operating across borders. The source report gives neither a date nor the number of cases. The ministry said it is ready to coordinate more closely with the police.
